Bret Contreras

Thirty-two-year-old Bret Contreras was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, with his identical twin brother and older sister. He attended Northern Arizona University for undergraduate studies and earned a masters at ASU, graduating summa cum laude. Bret taught high school mathematics for six years, but decided to leave the teaching profession to pursue a career in fitness, his true passion. He received his personal trainer credentials and soon after achieved the field’s top certification, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Bret, a dedicated weightlifter for more than half his life, is a voracious reader of any information involving fitness, health, and nutrition.
In 2006, Bret discovered the hip thrust while working out in his garage. Initially, he introduced his clients to hip thrusts by utilizing two separate pieces of equipment, but soon created and patented the Skorcher, providing a more user-friendly manner in which to perform the exercise.
Since then, he has opened up his own gym – an all-women personal training facility in Scottsdale, Arizona – and created three different Skorcher models.
Bret has trained as an athlete, powerlifter, mixed-martial artist, and bodybuilder. He is considered one of the best personal trainers in the business and has helped thousands of people sculpt their bodies to perfection.
